Contributed by Carol Walk Dec 2009 James Van Praagh's book (a psychic who had a show on TV for many years) UNFINISHED BUSINESS and found his discussion of God to be very Quaker-like. "In actuality, God is a formless multidimensional reality much like electromagnetic waves that pass through space. Imagine standing on a beach and watching the sun's rays dancing through the water illuminating the ocean floor. The multidimensional consciousness of God is like the sun through the water. Its energy permeates everything in and around us. "This multidimensionality operates through a range of frequencies or levels of reality. These realities are not above and below us, but inside us. The notions of above and below have to do with heaven and hell. As I have said in my workshops and books, heaven and hell are not above, below, or in any place. When seeking the highest levels of this multidimensional consciousness, we need to direct ourselves inward. This is where God resides. "No matter what name you apply to God, whether it is Jehovah, Allah, Ishvara, Tao, Great Spirit, or Jesus, in truth there is only the formless One. Those seeking God and desiring to have a relationship with God need only to go within to their hearts. How do we get to this inner world? As many sages have passed on, it is accomplished by quieting the mind in prayer and meditation. "Prayer is one of the greatest tools we possess. Through prayer, we can transcend the physical by connecting our minds to our hearts. We direct our thoughts and desires to the one force, the one source that is all of life. One does not need to be in a special building or perform a certain ritual to speak to God. God is anywhere and everywhere; God is limitless. "Prayer can take any form you choose. When you pray, simply acknowledge the truth that lies within your heart. It is not necessary to pray for oneself. By understanding that God resides in our heart, we acknowledge that this consciousness already knows what we need. The more aware we are, the more we will realize that all things happen for a reason. Suffering, illness, disasters, hunger, plagues, viruses, and so on are lessons souls must learn as they journey on their divine path. " Van Praagh, James. Unfinished Business. New York.
