CFM Blog

Quakers have a technique for sharing called Worship Sharing. There are many variations of Worship Sharing often designed for the needs of each unique group. A blog on a Quaker website could be thought of as a form of Worship Sharing.

For us, this is as an experiment in blogging for the thoughtful sharing of spirit, ideas and events related to Community Friends Meeting, it's members, attenders, affiliated organizations and for those interested in sharing with us.  This is a sharing of  e-words with an attention to our own understanding of the spirit of worship. This may seem to mean different things to different people but if you reach deep within yourself we believe we will find a consensus of understanding.

There are some common directions given to those who participate in worship sharing. If you wish to blog with us, we ask you to:
  • Share after letting the spirit move through you. This isn't meant to hold you back on substance but to give yourself time to season your thoughts and spirit.
  • Choose your words carefully when sharing as words mean different things to different people.
  • Do not jump to judgment. Listen to the spirit of what a person is trying to say and not your understanding of the literal word when you read other's messages.
  • Again, allow some time to yourself after reading a message to understand what is said before you reply.
  • Refrain from flaming people, places, political parties, or whatever upsets you and, instead, try to appeal to the good within them.
  • Do not demand that we all have the same background, education or experience. Each person has something meaningful to share in their own words.
  • Please don't share full names, personal email addresses, home addresses, telephone numbers or other people's personal stories in blogs without permission.
